Current Openings

Section Grower - Winnipeg, MB

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Section Grower’s primary focus is the health of the entire section, inside POD and out, that they are responsible for. Teams will focus on defoliation, cloning, transplanting, canopy maintenance and various other plant related tasks. Section Growers will assess any plant, pets, environment, mechanical or nutrient bases issues and report directly to the Head Grower. Together, the Sections Growers and Head Grower will create an action plant, implementation plan and work together to resolve the issue. Section Growers will be responsible for making sure their team works together to ensure the everyone is working towards compliances and taking necessary corrective actions for all growing issues. Section Growers task will be receiving weekly/daily from the grow team scheduler/planner.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• The plants and infrastructure in the Section Grower’s section is ultimately the responsibility of the Section Grower with support from the Head Grower, including but not limited to:

o Plant maintenance

o Pest related issues

o Nutritional needs

o Environmental needs – both within the room as well as the building

o Section cleanliness both inside the pods as well as external

• Section growers are expected to be integral parts of their teams, training and coaching the preferred methodology

• Ability to identify nutrient toxicity and deficiencies. Create and implement corrective action plan with production staff.

• Ability to identify and diagnose pests, molds/mildews and plant deficiencies and notify the Integrated Pest Management Technician to make recommendations while abiding by Health Canada Regulations regarding treatments.

• Growers are expected to follow all Delta 9 growing methodologies and SOP’s.

• Collaboration with Head Grower and QA on improved technology and growing methodologies is encouraged following Delta 9 testing procedures.

• Work closely with and alongside Team Leads to ensure teams are following SOP’s and Delta 9 growing methodologies such as

o Cloning

o Transplanting

o Defoliation

o Destruction

o Trellis installations etc.

• Work closely with the Head Grower to resolve any plant or mechanical related issues.

• Work closely with Quality Department and Integrated Pest Management Technician to make recommendations while abiding by Health Canada Regulations regarding treatments.

• Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance.

• Document all processes associated with the plants using Delta 9’s chosen software

• Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

• Greenhouse Applicator’s License required within 90 days of hiring date.

• 3-5 years experience in a LP grow facility is considered an asset.

• Understanding of all aspects of cloning, seed propagation and genetics, including phenotype and genotype selection considered an asset

• MMAR and ACMPR related growing experience is an asset.

• Post-secondary education or current enrollment in a plant science or horticultural

• program is required.

• Exceptional communication skills and ability to deal with all types of personalities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as editing, research and
analytical skills.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to execute detailed plans.

Sanitation / Fabrication Technician - Winnipeg, MB

Delta 9 is currently seeking a high energy, self motivated individual to join our Sanitation/Fabrication team in a Full-time, permanent position. This is a full-time position offered Monday to Friday, from 7am-3:30pm. The Sanitation/Fabrication Technician will be working in accordance with our Sanitation Manager to complete a schedule of daily tasks as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to keep our facility clean and well maintained. These responsibilities will include washing various workplace items used for plant growth, laundering various linens and basic maintenance of various workplace equipment.

Primary Responsibilities: 
• Driving forklift – (we will train for this)
• Changing air filters throughout all grow rooms 
• Fabricate and install irrigation systems
• Fabricate and install plant shelving 
• Perform daily checks on ventilation, lighting and plumbing
• Run the drain systems
• Tear down grow equipment
• Empty grow pods of plant pots
• Sanitizing grow rooms 
• Use of chemical cleaners
• Develop ideas to improve operations 
• Complete documentation as required to support Quality systems

Qualifications: 
• Must have completed high school diploma or GED equivalent 
• Must be able to work as a team
• Must be able to comfortably lift 50 lbs.
• Content with repetitive tasks 
• Must pass basic criminal background check 
• Oral communications skills required
• Detail oriented in all sanitation and maintenance tasks
• Forklift license or willing to learn

Cultivation Manager - Winnipeg, MB

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Delta 9 Bio-Tech Inc. is looking for a professional Cultivation Manager with operational knowledge and experience to oversee the organization and general operations of Cultivation at Delta 9 Biotech. Reporting to the Head Grower, the Cultivation Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and training to their personnel in order to ensure optimum performance and compliance, while meeting budget requirements and timelines. They are responsible for taking necessary corrective actions for any and all production issues. The Cultivation Manager is responsible for the optimal functioning of the Production team, while working in collaboration with the Processing and Sanitation teams.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strong knowledge or experience of large-scale commercial operations

• Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve all aspects of the cultivation facility and establish a culture where all personnel are involved in continuous improvement

• Provide oversight and decision making to support the VP of Operations

• Accountable for production costs, labour, and operational results

• Schedule and organize staff to meet department goals/targets

• Develop employees through certifications, coaching, and providing clear roles with consistent support and succession planning

• Foster positive employee relations by treating all employees with respect, providing timely feedback and grievance resolution

• Holds employees accountable and drives performance using metrics tied to operational vision

• Develops a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with legislative bodies such as Employment Standards, WCB, and Workplace Health & Safety

• Continuously seeks to improve operational results and efficiencies

• Ensure SOP’s reflect operations and are adhered to and works closely with QA to ensure compliance

• Audits processes to ensure best practices

• Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities, setting clear expectations of the work to be done with the production team to ensure product quality

• Speak with contractors and communicate any potential problems

• Assist Human Resources with recruiting and hiring of Cultivation Staff staff

• Selecting, ordering, and purchasing material in cooperation with the purchasing department

• Identifying and scheduling the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment

• Develop budgets to meet operational requirements

• Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in progressive leadership positions, preferably in a manufacturing environment
